LEFT,... LEFT,... LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT

Today Clayton went to Guard training.

I don't know what that is, but he had to be at the National Guard facility in Glendale at 6 this morning.

He has two weekend duties before he leaves for basic training in March.

A friend who is in the guard says that they are harder on you these 2 weekends then they are at basic.

He does get to come home at night so I'll know more then.

I think he will be OK. He knows how to work hard, he doesn't like it, but he does know how.

He went on a run with Kyle the other day. Clayton came sprinting home and Kyle came in huffing and puffing.

Clay also knows how to be away from home. So at basic, his home sickness should be minimal.

He likes to go camping and has done some pretty strenuous hikes. At least once he has hiked from one end of South Mountain to the other.

Sometimes he gets an idea stuck in his head and has to do it. Once on a whim he rode his bicycle from our house to 75th Ave and Deer Valley and back home. (53 miles round trip)

Recently he went to Winslow to "camp". Turns out he slept in a railroad car over night. It was 15 degrees.

On a bet, he once slept all night ON a motorcycle. Yes, on it like a bed. His feet could not touch the ground. He couldn't even get off to go to the bathroom. He WON the $5 bet.

I am laying here in bed trying to think of all the things this kid has done and I just keep coming up with more and more.

Peralta, I don't know how many times.

Rappelling

Zion's camp-they have to pull a handcart for 4 days and one of those days is a pull up Jordan's hill which is so steep they have to use heavy ropes (about 1 1/2 inches diameter) to pull the hand cart. It is done in 2 stages. The ropes are about 1000 feet long which is only long enough to get the carts half way up the hill. They pull the cart as far as they can with the ropes, then tie the cart down, then ready the ropes to pull the cart the rest of the way up the hill. It takes them about 4 hours to get 7 or 8 carts to the top.

The one thing he might have a problem with is....PEPSI is considered CONTRABAND!!!!!!
