DONUTS and IRONMAN 5-5-08
Friday at work I had new employee orientation. YUK. It's like they have to think of something to keep you occupied for 8 hours. I spent most of the day inside a building. AUGH, I can't stand walls. Give me a big ol windshield any day of the week and I am a much happier camper. We did tour a senior center and eat lunch there. HELLO, I have been to all the senior centers, why do I need a tour. I could give the tour. then we toured the Phoenix overflow Homeless Shelter. They said it was a nice facility. Maybe if your homeless you might consider it nice. When I got home from work Clayton wanted to go to a movie to celebrate his new job at Fry's Electronics so we headed to the theater. Callie and I reluctantly went with Clayton and Derril to see Ironman. wow, loved it. So much better than what I had expected. I would even go see it again. Saturday morning I picked up Mom and Bob and took them to the airport. I asked Callie if she wanted to go and she said no but to not forget the Cluff Family Tradition of Dunkin Donuts whenever you go to the airport. So I did the airport drop and then headed for Tempe, the closest Dunkin. AUGH, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! they were closed for remodeling. I had to settle for Donut Central. They have only about 6 different donuts to choose from. Really it is just a step above Dolly Madison. The rest of Saturday was just such a waste of my day. I couldn't get motivated to do anything. I really need to get out of this emotional slump I'm in. Went to church on Sunday. Still-I do OK at home and then the minute I walk out the door to go to church I am hit with such a wave of depression. But it was so nice, Callie came with us. she had only been home from her ward for a half hour and then went for another 3 hour block. Actually she was doing homework. She had to observe a toddler for one of her classes and since she goes to a singles ward with no nursery she came to our ward. She sent in and observed nursery during Sunday School and then came to Relief Society with me. Sad but typical for my ward, Callie was completely ignored my our "friendly" ward. Callie and I were 2 of 3 people sitting on the front row in Relief Society. One of the counselors gets up to welcome everyone and says"we only have one visitor today". Well I think they are going to ask Callie to introduce herself but instead they introduce someone in the back and don't even acknowledge Callie. I leaned over and asked Cal if she wanted me to speak up and she said "no, nobody has even said one word to me while I have been here today". Callie says this is the most unfriendly ward she has ever attended. That is kind of how I feel. I have been in the ward since it was organized 2 and 1/2 years ago and people don't even know who I am. Sister Gluch told me that the week before some one asked her "who is Randi Cluff". I have told Derril that we are the "Invisibles". I have been in this area my whole life and I am in a ward where they don't even know who I am. After such a negative entry I will follow Callie's council and end on a positive: a. we started to build a new chicken coup this weekend b. saw a really good movie- Ironman c. I have a really nice computer
