THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE CRAFTY 10-14-08

THE GOOD-Saturday I went to Ryleigh's soccer game. It was such a beautiful day. The weather was cool and there was a good breeze. I always enjoy seeing my sweet girls. Erna is a good mom and got the girls there an hour early.
I thought it started at 10, oops, not til 11
I am not so sure that Ryleigh is all that thrilled about soccer. She is the one who asked to play on a team.
Ry is right in the middle
But honestly, I don't think she is all that into team sports. She is quiet and polite, if someone from the other team is running she will slow down and pull out of the way to let them pass.
Ryleigh
Ellie on the other hand is a free spirit. This weekend she was a princess. She runs without a care in the world, just enjoying life in the moment.
our little princess
What a good mom Erna is to let Ellie be, whoever Ellie wants to be, even if it means going to the soccer game in a princess dress.
she is wearing her pink princess crocks too
THE BAD-Well finally after one year my probation at work is up. Actually, that will be tomorrow, the 15th. There have been rumors of budget cuts so I have been holding my breath thinking I will be safe after tomorrow. So Friday we have a meeting and are informed that the city is SO out of money that JOBS will be cut. We all really thought they would just close 2 or 3 senior centers. The official word is that 3 centers will be shut down and out of 35 drivers, 5 jobs will be cut. There are 8 drivers with less seniority than me. Problem, 2 of them are considered part time and the city is not cutting part timers. That leaves 6 people under me. After the official cut there is only 1 guy under me and he is only under me alphabetically. We were hired on the same day. Am I safe? If someone in another department is going to be cut and that person has a CDL and more seniority with the city than I do, I will get bumped and they will be offered MY JOB! And we won't know until the end of December if they will have to cut even deeper. Yep, the economy crisis is getting too close to home. All job cuts will take effect on March 1st. And I will know sometime in February if I am on the chopping block. THE CRAFTY-I am so excited to get started on my Christmas projects. It is 6 and 1/2 weeks til Christmas. I bought fabric this past weekend to start on 2 family gifts. Then I got inspired from reading Diane's blog and ordered a pattern last night that will make 3 more gifts. I have a design in mind for my Christmas card and can hardly wait to get started on that. This year I am going to try OrganizedChristmas.com
