GOOD NEIGHBORS???? 5-26-08

Right after crossing the border on Sunday we stopped to get a tire fixed (yet another flat tire in Mexico-some things never change) we got a phone call from Clayton. He had gotten a phone call from our next door neighbor. Jaiday seemed to think someone was in our house and had called the police and then Clayton. Clayton headed home from a friends house to find the police. The house was trashed. Every drawer in the house had been dumped, and some broken. The police had 3 in custody. One of the villians was Jaiday's 14 year old nephew that also lives next door.
My nice new door. I wish they had used the back door, it wasn't locked.
We spent the rest of the drive home making and receiving several phone calls. We were able to identify some items over the phone so the police knew that the items were indeed ours. Since they were found in the alley. And we were able to get all of our stuff back several hours later after the police had cataloged everything.
So happy to everything back even if some things were broken
I had my laptop and digital camera with me but they take Callie's 35mm Minolta, Derril's laptop, Callie's computer monitor, a movie camera, Kyle's Smith & Wesson 38 special, and a nice leather custom made jacket of his. They also took some of my blue and white danish plates along with some pine cones and spoons from England. And we counted 51 dvds. Even the police were a little surpised at the volume from 1 house.
Scary
Later in the day, Jaiday's sister came over in tears so embarrassed and feeling so awful. I felt sorry for her though because he 14 year old son is now in jail. He has not been in trouble before (not caught any way) and normally they could have released him to his parents but the burglars came with a .22 and whenever there is a gun involved they keep you. I guess that indicates that they were willing to shoot people. What a weekend!!!!
